For small and medium-sized treehouses in one or two trees
This set is a combination of two Vario Light Sets. With it you can build simple 2D triangles as well as complex 3D triangles and freely choose the angle of the struts. This is advantageous when you build off-centre platforms or want to avoid thick branches. For heavy, wide cantilever treehouses and high lateral loads, it is better to use the GTS Allstar instead of the lower GTS Friend – this is especially true for softwoods (spruce, fir, pine).
Minimum trunk diameter ø > 45 cm (17 in) at the top level, as two GTS must be screwed in opposite each other.
As platform size in softwood (spruce, etc.) we recommend 10 – 20 m², (100 – 200 sq ft) in hardwood (beech, oak, maple, …) light treehouses on 20 – 30 m² (200 – 300 sq ft) are well possible.
For larger constructions, additional braces should be attached to the triangle in any case (3D construction).

The distance between the trees should be 2 – 5 m (6 – 16 ft). It is up to each person to decide whether the triangles are mounted inside or outside; for large spans, inside triangles are preferable.
The triangles have some play on the GTS and can absorb slight movements of the trees (< 5 cm). In the case of very thin, strongly swaying trees, it is advisable to decouple the platform on one side and slide it on the triangle.
With cantilevered platforms, always consider the leverage forces acting laterally on your Tree Screws! A light platform or terrace is no problem, but a heavy treehouse should always be built close to the trunk.
Especially in softwoods (spruce, pine, …) the load-bearing capacity of Tree Screws across the wood grain is lower. In such cases, it is better to use the GTS Allstar at the bottom as well.

Dimensions of the triangular beams:
For the triangular beams, use beams, square or upright, with at least 9 × 9 cm (3,5 in) cross-section, better 11 × 11 cm (4,3 in).
Dimensions of the platform beams:
In the case of a platform between 2 trees, the distance between the triangles determines the height of the wooden beams, e.g. if the distance is 4 metres (13 ft):
- Platform beams protrude e.g. 1 m (3,3 ft) each over triangles → 6 m (19,7 ft) total length.
- Height of the beams = centre distance [cm] / 20 = 400 cm / 20 = 20 cm (7,9 inch minimum height)
- Width of the platform beams: 6 – 8 cm (2,4 – 3,2 in)

Frequently Asked Questions
When do I use V-Bracket and when 45° Diamond Bracket?
The V-bracket is more suitable for light and medium-weight treehouses that cantilever out to the side.
In contrast to the Diamond Bracket, the angle of the V-bracket is freely adjustable: from 60° acute to completely open. This has the advantage that you can avoid interfering branches and have more leeway in the design of the platform (eccentric platforms).
The V-bracket can also be used to build heavy 3D triangular constructions, but these are somewhat more difficult and unstable due to the lack of a continuous back wall.
Working with different angles makes the dimensioning and cutting of the timbers somewhat more challenging.
Where do I put the Distance Rings?
It is usually sufficient to secure the desired position of the Static Support on the upper GTS with Distance Rings. The Bracket on the lower GTS wedges automatically due to the tilting movement.
Can I build a “movable” triangle?
A moving triangle only makes sense if you are building in multiple trees that move in a storm. Both the supports on the GTS shaft and the triangle and the platform connected to it naturally have a certain amount of play and can easily buffer slight movements.
Ideally, the trees at the height of the platform have a trunk diameter ø > 45 cm and hardly move, in which case no further measures are required.
If the trees are somewhat thinner and move only slightly during storms, the triangle can be mounted without Distance Rings to have a little more leeway.
If the trees are expected to sway strongly, the triangles must be decoupled to avoid damage to the construction! Above all, it is important that the Tree Screws are not jerked back and forth. Decoupling is done constructively by slidingly supporting the platform beams on the triangle, e.g. with our Sliding Plates.
