The following are particularly suitable for outdoor areas exposed to alternating humidity (substructure, platform, floor boards, railings, stairs, exterior façade, windows, etc.): Larch and Douglas fir – their embedded resins and oils prevent the wood from rotting.
For the interior (wall construction, interior boarding, rafters, …) we recommend: Spruce – Spruce wood is cheap, can be worked super and does not resin so much.
For shingle roofing, use either:
- Larch wood (split or sawn)
- Cedar wood (smells very good)
OSB boards (9–12 mm) are excellent for stiffening walls and roofs.
