What does Brexit mean for parcel shipping to the UK?
With Brexit, the United Kingdom (UK) has left the European Union and, from the EU’s point of view, will have the status of a third country under customs law as of 1 January 2021. This means that the movement of goods and therefore the shipping of parcels between the EU and the UK will be subject to customs supervision from this date and customs formalities will therefore have to be fulfilled when shipping.
What customs duties are levied on Shipping in the UK?
The negotiated agreement provides that no customs duties will be levied on goods that originate in the EU or the UK (origin-based duty exemption). This means that the “hardware” of TheTreehouse.Shop will remain duty free (steel products & ropes).
Customs duty can only be levied on our “soft goods” (T-shirts, etc.) as these are also produced and shipped worldwide.
