Assembly instructions & video
To install the GTS Screws, a hole must be pre-drilled in the tree – you can find the appropriate installation tools in our shop.
The GTS+ extension replaces the M30 Hex Nut after the screw has been turned into the tree.
Detailed step-by-step instructions can be found on our YouTube channel.

Important: Height difference 5 mm

How it works – professional tips for installation

Which GTS should be reinforced?
The reinforcement is attached where the highest load occurs – or where the load capacity of the GTS needs to be increased in soft wood.
Depending on the load, each GTS can be reinforced with one or more GTS+ systems – from above (Cable System) or from below (BackUp System).

Position support beam
✔ For low loads and hard wood (e.g. oak, beech): The beam can be further away from the tree.
✔ For high loads and soft wood (e.g. spruce, fir): The beam should be as close to the tree as possible – keep the lever arm short!

Measuring trees
✔ Make sure that the trunk is thick enough for the GTS Screws in the area of the platform.
✔ We recommend a maximum distance of 8m (26.5 ft) between trees – otherwise the support beams will be very large and too heavy.

How do I mount the screws at the same height?
A simple tube level is the cheapest (10 - 15 €) and most effective solution:
- Mark the centre of the drill hole for the first GTS Screw.
- Transfer the height to all other trees using the tube level and water level.
- Make sure that the GTS Screws are perfectly aligned, e.g. using a compass.
You can find detailed instructions on our YouTube channel.
How thick do my wooden beams need to be?
That depends on the span, the load and the area of application. You can find all the details in our Step 11: Timber guide.
What is the load capacity of GTS Screws?
GTS Screws are designed for extreme loads of up to 4 tonnes. The exact load capacity depends on the following factors:
- Wood strength of the tree
- Lever arm (distance between beam and tree)
- Type of load (static or dynamic)

Can I saw off thick branches from the tree?
Small branches are no problem, but you should be more cautious with thick branches. Overall, no more than 5% of the crown volume should be removed at one time.
When building a treehouse, it is often necessary to saw off some branches. However, branches with a diameter of more than 10 cm should only be removed in isolated cases. Make sure you use a sharp saw and a clean cutting technique so as not to put unnecessary strain on the tree. Find out about the correct cutting technique in advance on a tree care portal.
