How do I reinforce the GTS?
The reinforcement fits the GTS Screws with a shank diameter of 40 mm:
The GTS Screw can be reinforced directly during installation or retroactively. Depending on the situation, the GTS+ BackUp System can be attached to the GTS shank inside or outside the beam bracket.
You can also attach multiple BackUps to one screw to maximise the load capacity.
Assembly video & instructions
- Place the large ring in the desired position on the shank.
- Hold the small ring in the desired position on the tree and mark the drill hole.
- GTS Safety Pre-drill with a 24 mm auger drill bit.
- Screw in the GTS Safety together with the ring.
- Once fully assembled, tighten the turnbuckle fully!

When do you need BackUp?
With a single BackUp, the vertical load capacity of the GTS can be almost doubled. This is necessary in the following cases:
✔ High load on the GTS
✔ Soft wood (poplar, spruce, etc.)
✔ Visible overload of the GTS (retrofitted)
✔ Public projects (extra safety!)
Easy to assemble
For very high loads, when you are pushing the load capacity of the GTS to its limits, we recommend installing a BackUp right away.
For normal loads within the load capacity of the GTS, simply build your treehouse and wait out the first few storms – if you have any concerns, you can always retrofit at any time!
GTS+ systems
Whether you reinforce your GTS from above or below depends on the space available. We recommend the GTS+ BackUp System from below, as it looks more harmonious, whereas the cable route of the GTS+ Cable System can sometimes be distracting. Of course, you can also reinforce a GTS with several systems – double is better!
Example: More freedom of movement
In this example, we reinforce the GTS Allstar with the ‘GTS+ BackUp System’ and maximise its load capacity in soft spruce wood. Now the Dynamic Support can slide outwards on the shank (approx. 17 cm lever arm!) without overloading the screw.
