Hardware Info – Disclaimer – Safety Instructions and Customer Responsibility

1. Definition of ‘Hardware’ / our products

By “Hardware” or ‘our products’ we mean all physical components, in particular:

  • GTS Tree Bolts
  • Accessories Parts such as Brackets, Connectors, Adapters, Spacers, Hex Nuts, Washers, etc.
  • Assembly Tools for Rent (e.g. Drill, Ratchet)

These are sourced exclusively from TheTreehouse.Shop – Vitus Wahlländer. Our hardware is manufactured to the highest standards and is ‘100% Made in Germany / Bavaria’. For third-party products (e.g. cables, tools), the respective manufacturer's specifications apply.

2. Use at your own risk

The use of our products is entirely at the customer's own risk and responsibility. TheTreehouse.Shop / Vitus Wahlländer accepts no liability for:

  • Damage to trees or structures
  • Injuries, animal injuries or personal injury
  • Property damage or consequential damage due to assembly errors, incorrect use, lack of maintenance or environmental influences

3. Professional assembly is mandatory

The buyer undertakes to assemble all components professionally in accordance with:

  • our assembly instructions (PDF and YouTube)
  • applicable craft standards
  • the individual conditions on site

Our products do not have official structural approval – all load specifications are guidelines based on internal company tests. Our guidelines must be used in construction practice with a safety factor greater than 2.

4. No liability for environmental influences

We have no influence on natural conditions such as:

  • Tree species, age, vitality or previous damage
  • Soil conditions or root condition
  • Weather influences (e.g. storm, snow, drought, pests, lightning strike)

These factors can significantly influence the load capacity. The assessment of these risks lies solely with the customer. In case of doubt, we strongly recommend consulting an expert on site for assessment.

5. Maintenance and inspections

The customer must comply with the following obligations to ensure long-term safety:

  • Visual inspection at least once a year
  • Additional inspection after extreme weather (storm, snow, heavy rain, heat, frost)
  • Immediate shutdown if there are doubts about stability
  • Consult a specialist in case of abnormalities or uncertainties

6. Product safety, modification and warranty

The safe functioning of our products is only guaranteed when used properly.

The warranty is void in the event of:

  • improper installation
  • modification of our parts (e.g. welding, drilling, cutting)
  • use with unsuitable or self-made components

Our screws are made of high-strength special steel. They must not be modified or welded under any circumstances, as this will destroy their strength and may result in a risk to life.

7. Building regulations & permits

The customer is responsible for informing themselves about local building regulations and permit requirements.

Special regulations often apply, especially to structures, publicly accessible treehouses or larger platforms.

To avoid any problems, please check with the authorities in advance and respect your neighbours.

8. Advice is non-binding (website information, emails & phone calls)

Our technical advice is based on many years of experience in professional treehouse construction. However, it is non-binding, without guarantee and does not replace individual structural analysis or tree surveys.

For larger, public or exposed projects, we strongly recommend:

  • the involvement of a structural engineer
  • the assessment of the tree by a certified arborist
  • consultation with the responsible building authority.
