GTS Friend - Version 2.0:

Load Capacity – Swing-Kit 2
- GTS Friend in softwood at least 600 kg*
- GTS Friend in hardwood up to 1700 kg*
* Important: The actual load capacity depends on many factors, e.g. lever arm, load direction or wood strength. Always calculate with a safety factor!
Lateral lever forces on the GTS Friend must be avoided, especially in softwood!
Assembly instructions & video
To install the GTS Screws, a hole must be pre-drilled in the tree – you can find the right installation tools in our shop.
Detailed step-by-step instructions can be found on our YouTube channel.

Swinging fun between two trees – safe and tree-friendly!
Trees are perfect for swinging – and with this installation kit, you can anchor the wooden beam securely and gently to the tree. Thanks to the Position-Rings 2.0, the construction can be flexibly adapted to the growth of the tree.
Important: The two fixed brackets create a rigid connection between the trees. To prevent damage to the construction during storms and movement, both trees should have a diameter of at least 35 cm.

Grows with you!
GTS Tree Bolts protect the tree – no long-term bruising as with other attachment methods.
The swing beam (red) is initially positioned close to the trunk to minimise leverage. Thanks to the Position-Rings 2.0 (white), it can be moved further outwards year after year, allowing the tree to grow freely in width.

Swing beam dimensions
You can easily calculate the cross-section of your wooden beam using this rule of thumb:
Beam height [cm] = span [cm] / 20
The width of the swing beam should be 10–14 cm. You can find more information in Step 11: Timber guide

Reinforce swing beam
Swinging under a tree is simply wonderful! All you need are two healthy trees with a trunk diameter of at least 35 cm at the height where you want to attach the tree bolt. If the distance between the trees is too great, you can shorten the span afterwards with struts (see picture) to reinforce the construction.
Successful projects
Our GTS tree bolts can do more than just hold swings – be inspired by the treehouses built by our customers! Maybe you'll want more :)

Can I also install a movable bracket?
Also works: If the tree trunks move more than 5 cm in total, you should replace one of the fixed brackets with a movable bracket.
The movable bracket is designed to sit slightly looser on the shank of the GTS than the fixed bracket. It may jerk slightly during extremely wild swinging. You must therefore fix the bracket very firmly with the Position-Rings!
How much does a tree move in the wind?
A tree that is 40 cm (15.7 in) thick sways up to 2 cm in all directions at a height of 2 m (6.6 ft) during a storm. The higher you go, the stronger the movement.
Our tip: Observe your tree during a storm – every tree reacts differently!
How do I mount the Tree Bolts at the same height?
A simple tube level is the cheapest (10 - 15 €) and most effective solution:
- Mark the centre of the drill hole for the first GTS Screw.
- Transfer the height to all other trees using a hose level and water level.
- Make sure that the GTS Screws are perfectly aligned, e.g. using a compass.
You can find detailed instructions on our YouTube channel.
Will my swing beam grow upwards with the tree?
Your swing beam always stays at the same height. Trees only grow upwards at the tips of their branches; the trunk grows in width. This growth in thickness (3–15 mm per annual ring) must be taken into account, otherwise the tree will suffer!
Is my tree hardwood or softwood?
The higher the wood strength, the greater the load capacity of the tree bolts.
Information on the strength and wound healing of individual tree species can be found in Step 5: The right tree for your treehouse – including a table of the best trees for treehouses and their suitability for tree bolts.
