Tree Save Sling

Injury-free fastening for ropes on the tree

The TreeSave tree sling is the perfect anchor point for attaching ropes to tree trunks, branch forks and thick branches. You can secure your platform with cables, attach suspension bridges directly to the tree trunk or hang a swing in a way that is gentle on the tree. We have the right length for every trunk circumference and every load.

NEW in our range are our 12 t slings with a 10 cm wide belt, which increases the contact surface and is therefore even more gentle on the tree!

For extreme static and dynamic loads

The TreeSave tree sling from our friends at Drayer has already been awarded the Innovation Prize at Interforst 2006 and GaLaBau 2004 and meets the technical requirements of the ZTV tree care. The retaining system was developed in close cooperation with arborists and is ideally suited for the high demands of treehouse construction!

Tree-friendly

Pressure distribution
The loop with the wide protective tube distributes the load over a large area and thus protects the important cambium layer and prevents constriction.

The length of the strap should at least correspond to the circumference of the trunk C = (diameter × π) + 60 cm (24 in). To determine the circumference, simply place a strap or string around the desired area and measure the length.

Overload indicator 75 %
Despite the enormous load-bearing capacity of 4000 or 8000 kg breaking load, it may happen that the system reaches its load limit under heavy load (hurricane or tree house party). The integrated predetermined breaking point opens when the system is loaded by more than 75 %, making the orange marking clearly visible. However, the TessSave system is still fully loadable.

Simple Installation

Installation
The tree slings should be attached as close as possible to the trunk, either directly to the trunk or to a thick branch fork. Lever arms should be avoided at high loads, also because the system can swing during storms.

Tree slings are also required to attach suspension bridges directly to the tree. Suspension bridges should never be attached solely to the platform, as the strong lever and traction forces would quickly overload the wooden structure.

Installation Instruction
  • The tree sling is placed directly around the trunk or a thick branch fork.
  • On the trunk, the sling can be secured with a nail or a small wood screw to prevent it from slipping down.
  • The strap should be attached as close to the trunk as possible to prevent long lever arms and strong swinging / pendulum movements.
  • The static load should be a maximum of half the breaking load (2 instead of 4 t; 4 instead of 8 t).

Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly can I put the tree poop?
The more central on the trunk, the better. The rope should not snap on the outside of branches with a long lever arm, as these can firstly be overloaded and secondly can swing strongly during storms.
Which rope and accessories do I need for the suspension system?
The accessories for the rope suspension must have a sufficient breaking load, preferably with safety factor 2. The parts are available in DIY stores or on the Internet:

  • Steel rope, static Dyneema rope or hollow rope, ø 6 – 12 mm
  • Thimbles and wire rope clamps suitable for the steel rope
  • Turnbuckle galvanised (DIN1480), > M14
  • Shackle (HC2 or similar)
  • Ring nut, threaded rod, locking screw for fixing the beam.
How long should the tree sling be?
The length of the belt should be at least equal to the circumference of the trunk U = (diameter d × π) + 60 cm (24 in); with circle number π = 3.14.

To determine the circumference, simply place a belt or string around the desired point and measure the length.

How long does the attachment to the tree last?

The tree slings have an effective life of at least 8 years. The rope suspension components should be visually inspected every few years and can be easily replaced if necessary.

Do the tree slings grow with the tree?
Although tree slings, in contrast to direct chain or rope attachments, distribute the pressure over a large area around the tree, heavy use over the years can cause the tree loop to constrict the tree at this point. In this case, the strap can be moved or replaced if necessary.
Is the tree sling suitable for attaching a swing to the tree?
Tree slings are excellent for all attachments of swings, swing nests or similar to trees. The webbing is looped completely around the tree or branch and can simply be moved slightly every few years so that the branch is not pinched.
