We are delighted to count Cabaneo among our customers! Our friends from France never cease to amaze us with impressive photos and videos of their treehouse projects. In addition to treehouses, they also create all kinds of other beautiful wooden structures – craftsmanship of the highest calibre!

Tell us a little about yourselves – why are you here?

We are Cabaneo from Meyreuil in southern France. Our team consists of three partners: Julien & Thomas Lachaume and Alexandre Cousteils. Since 2012, we have built around 150 tree houses and terraces (we also make pergolas and summer kitchens on request).

Your first tree house project?

We actually built our first tree house for friends, then we shared it on Facebook, it was very well received and we got our first orders. That's how the adventure began.

Tip no. 1 for beginners in the field of tree houses, DIY enthusiasts or future tree house professionals

Start with a simple tree house and make sure that the tree is suitable for construction (healthy, large enough and made of suitable wood, e.g. oak). Don't build it too high up in the tree. In general, you should put as little strain on the tree as possible so that it can grow unhindered. And if you want a professional result, give us a call 😉

What have you learned about fastening techniques over the years?

In the beginning, we used clamping techniques, as in most climbing parks, but we quickly realised that this was affecting the growth of the tree. So we switched to drilling with TAB (Treehouse Attachment Bolt), which is still the best method for attaching a treehouse to its tree (and allowing it to grow unhindered).

What is your funniest/most embarrassing anecdote about treehouses?

A man asked us to build a treehouse for his children. When we were done, we went back to him to check that everything was okay and found that he liked it so much that he had set up his office in it.
